PROJECT INFO
For those of you who don't know this is my personal home. When I saw it hit the market, I knew I had to have it! I loved the vaulted ceilings and midcentury architecture along with the fact that it was a total gut so I could renovate to my liking. After 2 years of looking, it checked all my boxes!
I knew I wanted to take the house ultra-modern with a New York/ LA feel. I developed the high contrast black and white palette because I wanted my home to be edgy and ahead of the trend here in Kansas City. I used oversized tiles and large slabs to create a high-end space along with all custom cabinetry. Every item in the home was designed with great detail to ensure it turned out to perfection. All new slate velour brick was added to 2 sides of the home, along with smart board siding on the back. New custom wood & aluminum clad windows, prefinished factory black, finish off the exterior.
For the interior, I opened up the floor plan by installing 3-28' LVLs. This allowed me to make the main living area functional as well as add a much-needed 2nd bathroom. I demoed all the original 2.25" red oak floors and replaced them with a prefinished 7.5" wide plank French oak. This was key to executing the ultra-modern feel.
